What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Clara really had not wanted to get involved with this whole stupid situation, but since she was Clara of course she ended up getting caught up. Quite literally. These two guys had been walking around carrying guns and naturally Clara yelled at them when they started tormenting kids and parents and just people in general. Of course, she then got knocked out and tied up in the back of their stupid car. Oh but it wasn't over. Then they went to their base or whatever it was, and they left her in the boot for at least ten minutes or more. Then there was a car chase with the police and a few times, the police cars bumped into the back of the car she was in, which of course caused her pain. Eventually, though, the criminals were caught and she managed to make enough noise so that they let her out. Her injuries looked worse in the sunlight; blood and bruises all over, and her arm was broken. Lovely.
Anyway, some paramedics sorted her out but they said she couldn't go home yet since she was going to be questioned. A frustrated sigh left her lips as they said this, but they told her they'd be here for some time, so they got a chair, sat her down in it and wrapped a blanket around her. Even if Clara was acting tough and mumbling and grumbling, she was in shock and she was also scared. Plus it felt like she was broken all over, the way her bones were aching. Still, she managed to keep her cool and she watched as people come and went. She briefly wondered what exactly was going on, but she didn't ask. All she knew was those two guys were threatening people and carrying guns, and her big mouth didn't let that pass. She just had to yell at them, didn't she? A frown appeared on her features. Why was she such an idiot? Nobody could really answer that question.
Clara suddenly completely passed out, right there with a blanket wrapped round her. She wasn't sure how long she was out for, but soon enough she could hear voices somewhere around her, and her eyes started to flicker open. She let out a groan; her injuries felt even worse now. She tried to open her eyes properly, but unfortunately, they didn't seem to want to do anything at the moment....oh joy. So she just had to slowly ease herself up. But Clara wasn't even sure if she was at the crime scene still, or somewhere else...bloody criminals. Stupid, stupid Clara. Her brain was yelling at her but she couldn't comprehend anything just yet..

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
"Why is it that every time something happens, I'm the one who has to question the incompetent victims!?" Jonah had been stomping through the hall as he followed the captain of the task force toward the room where the girl was waiting. Of course, he didn't answer, because time and time again, this is what Jonah always did. It was something he was given because of his skills of memory. He can see things clearly, remember them, and use them to the force's advantage. The story, the wounds, and the backup to match.
Finally arriving to the room, he and the captain looked down to see the girl, looking quite bewildered and she was wrapped up in a blanket like a child, to which Jonah gave a very hesitant look to the captain, not wanting to be apart of this. "Miss Oswald, this is detective Clayworth. He's here to ask you a few questions and he will then escort you home," the captain spoke before leaving the room.
Slamming the door behind his captain, Jonah had leaned against the wall for some time, biting his lip with his hands tightly clenched together. He needed to cool off for a moment before he could begin this long, difficult trial of asking a helpless victim all these questions to expect vague, invaluable answers. Sitting down across from Clara at the metal table, he watched her for a few moments in the single lamp-lit room.
She looked like she really took a beating and he could see that. With monotonous eyes, he sniffed with an unsympathetic look, waiting to find the right words. "Hello. I'm Jonah. I'm going to ask you a few questions and you will answer with detail to your best ability. I don't accept one word answers, I need the facts and they must be admissible in court," he started. "What happened first and what lead to you being tied up?"

Clara looked up as two men entered. She looked between the two of them, letting her eyes linger on the more irritated-looking one slightly longer, before she returned her gaze to the captain. As he explained to her who the other guy was, and what he was doing there, she nodded once, simply, to indicate her understanding. She wasn't going to speak just yet, or else she wouldn't have any words to answer detective Clayworth's questions, and she knew full well that being in a situation like that wouldn't be good.
After the captain left, Clara watched Clayworth as he seemed to try and cool off. She bit her lip, sensing his irritation, and couldn't help but feel slightly guilty since there was a 90% chance that she was the cause. She shrugged off the blanket, not feeling cold any more, and offered a small, tired smile as he sat across from her and began to talk. She listened and nodded when he introduced himself. She swallowed. "Clara. But I suppose you already knew that." she said, and she was relieved when she could feel (and hear) her normal voice coming back. She had been worried about it wavering and cracking and making it seem as if she was going to cry. No, Clara was braver than that.
When he asked the question, Clara thought back, remaining quiet for a few moments as she figured out how to describe what exactly had happened. "These two guys were walking around, threatening people. Mothers and kids and...I suppose, because I'm just that kind of person, it made me angry to see them making people scared. So I let my anger out and shouted at them, trying to rescue the victims, and all of a sudden they decided they didn't like protestors. They grabbed me, tied me up and chucked me into the back of their car." Clara said calmly, even though there was her normal fiery edge to her tone. She leaned back in her chair, studying him for a few moments. "If you're a detective, wouldn't you much rather be out there on the crime scene, rather than sitting in here questioning me?" she wanted to know, after a few moments of her staying silent.

Listening to her story, he lightly shook his head, thinking about it.She went on about standing up for the kids... and although he would usually admire that, it was the fact that she seemed so small and shy. What made her think she would win that type of fight? He frowned at the idea.
He decided to keep his lips sealed about the whole vague thing to let her continue on with her story. Of course there were a few details missing, but for the most part things seemed to match up. "Because of all that has happened, you're not going to be questioned anymore today, but in the next week, you will need to schedule an appointment with our forensic sketch artist so we can find the men."
When she had asked him if he would rather be out, he scowled a bit and sighed. "Apparently they already have a detective on the case already. Some bloke whom they go to all the time. I'm not allowed on the fields until I get in enough hours, I suppose." As much as he disliked associating with people, he could tell that she was shaken up as it was and didn't feel the need to make her feel worse with his own comments. Yes, he was rude, but he was honest. But right now, he didn't think she needed that. Looking down with a bitten lip, he put his pen down and sealed his notes in an envelope, leaving it on the table to be picked up later.
"So, I understand you're going home today?" he asked. "I've been told to escort you home. I will also be following you around and keeping watch of your home for the next few weeks for safety measures. So you better get comfortable with me around," he sighed. He hated this part of the job. He wanted to be the one solving the crime, not protecting the civilians. Still, he had to work his way up to do that.

Clara nodded. "Understood." she replied. Now that she was feeling more calm, her sassy, fiery Clara mind-set suddenly kicked in as her eyes seemed to adjust properly to Jonah. Ooh, well he's a looker! She thought shamelessly. She mentally gave her mind a kick and moved her gaze to the table, in an attempt to shut up her thoughts. She had no boundaries in her own mind; which was obvious, since the thought of flirting with the detective who was questioning her had rushed through her mind. Dear Lord, Clara, what in the world has gotten into you? her more 'mature' thoughts asked her. She ignored all the 'voices' in her head and focused on what Jonah was saying.
"Even if they already have a guy on the case, though, wouldn't it be easier if there were two detectives? You'd get the job done much quicker with two." Clara pointed out, looking up at Detective Clayworth again. She let a smile play across her lips as she returned her gaze to the table, her thoughts still running wild (most unfortunately) and there was still an urge to flirt with him. No no no no NO! Stop that! she scolded. When she heard Jonah talking, Clara zoned back in and looked at him with a nod.
"Yeah, I will be headed home." she replied. She listened and couldn't help grinning at his words. He'd have to look out for her and follow her around for the next few weeks? Interesting. More chance to fli---don't you even think about it, Clara Oswald. Clara chuckled at what he said and waved a hand. "I'm pretty sure you won't be much trouble, so it shouldn't take me long to get used to you being around." she replied calmly. "Shall we head off, then?"

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
At her comment in which she suggested two detectives, he looked away for a moment and shook his head. "Apparently the bloke is so brilliant he doesn't need anyone else to help him," he muttered. He never met the guy, but he knew well enough that he was the reason he wasn't getting much action at the crime scenes. He'd have to complain about that later. They offered him the job because of his skills on the scene, not because he had social skills.
Getting up to help her to the door, he opened it and let her pass through before following her outside. Assuming she came in through an ambulance, he guided her to the parking lot and took her to his car. Opening the door for her, he got on the other side and got into the car as well before looking at his GPS system. Turning to her, he pursed his lips. "What is your address?"
When he began plotting the coordinates in, he began driving her back to her home as he looked around the area for a moment. "You're a teacher, aren't you?" he attempted to make small talk - something he was terrible at. He didn't really have great social skills. In fact, he was pretty awkward and quiet most of the time, unless he was angry.

When he next spoke, Clara felt a wave of sympathy wash over her. She could imagine it wasn't fun to hear that another person in the same career as yourself, was a lot better than you. That was plain silly. She then had an idea, however silly it may have seemed. She spoke gently, trying not to let her voice show any kind of pity. Some people hated that. "Well, whoever this bloke is, he's probably not better than you. He's most likely just been here longer. They'll realize your potential at some point, just trying to be patient is the key." she said, and hoping that was a little comforting.
As they walked towards the car park and towards his car, Clara smiled to herself. However bad he may have been at being sociable (she wasn't sure of this, but she had a slight hunch), she could cover up for it, because of her own ability to talk so much. It was both a blessing and a curse, she'd been told. When they were in the car, she put on her seatbelt and told him her address, as he asked. When he next spoke, she nodded and smiled at him.
"Yep, an English teacher." Clara replied. "Not as interesting as your job, granted, but it's helping to pay the bills, so who am I to complain?" she shrugged, then smiled slightly. "How long have you been a detective, anyhow?" she asked, out of mere curiosity. She did have a curiosity for others and their lives, because despite what others thought, Clara liked listening and learning. She'd never exactly admit it to people, because it would make some (not everyone, but some people) think she was weak and quiet and shy, when she wasn't. Not most of the time, anyway.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
While they had continued to drive, he listened to what she had to say and nodded. "I've been apart of the law enforcement for about a year now, but I had to do six months of training. So I've been a detective officially for about six months," he shrugged as he had turned down an intersection. Thinking about it, he had only been on a few cases so far. He just dreaded the idea of being stuck doing questioning for the rest of his career.
When he had finally stopped into her neighborhood, he pulled his car into the driveway and got himself out and opened the door for her on the other side. Although he wasn't exactly good at speaking, his parents were very anal about proper manners with a lady, even if he's never had a girlfriend or even really talked to a girl at all.
Stuffing his hands into his coat pockets, he waited for her to get herself up and ready before heading toward the door to her home. "D'you mind if I step in for a moment? I just have to do some observations of your home to make sure all the entrances and windows are safe. I'm going to be hanging around here a lot, probably in a car with some other officers to make sure no one tries to break in until the men are caught."

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Clara listened to his explanations and she smiled. "Is it something you've always wanted to do, then? Like a dream job?" she asked curiously, her head tilted. "It's a good thing to do with your life, I have to say. Working with the law is one of the best jobs you can get, so I've heard." she said thoughtfully. She wondered briefly what it was like to go on constant cases; murders, mysteries...all that dramatic stuff that you saw on TV. She imagined it wasn't as easy as TV soap dramas, though.
When Jonah opened the door for her once they were at her house, she smiled sweetly at him and got out. "Thanks." she said. Guys with manners were always good. She'd had way too many encounters with rude and just genuinely nasty guys in the past.
When he spoke again, she nodded happily. She walked up to her house and opened the door, stepping in and leaving the door open for him to come in. She silently thanked the skies that she'd cleaned up in here the day before. Clara put her jacket on an armchair and turned to face Jonah. "I'm going to put the kettle on; d'you want some tea?" she asked, another sweet smile appearing on her lips.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
When she had asked if it was her dream job, he thought about that for a moment silently and then shrugged his shoulders. "Quite honestly, I'm not sure what I want to do. I was going to school to be a lawyer and came across a crime scene while on a walk, and when they brought me in for questioning, my memory skills of the scene were so remarkable to them, they begged me to join."
When he had been let inside, he looked around for a moment. It was a tidy little home and it was obvious to him that she lived alone. Probably single, but maybe she had a boyfriend. He wasn't really sure. When she had questioned him about wanting some tea, he looked back at her and nodded. "Tea would be fine, thank you."
While taking a moment to look around to see the different exits in the household, as well as where the windows were positioned, he found himself being drawn by something that was on her table. It was an old photograph of a group of people whom were posing. From the looks of it, it was a victorian era photo... and was that Clara in it? "What the bloody--" he stopped himself as he took a step back. Picking it up and looking at it, he noticed writing on the back of it.
London, 1886 - property of The Doctor... "Oh no," he murmured to himself. That bloody legend going around England of the man called The Doctor. Working around with Torchwood, the most rubbish agency he'd ever heard of. Aliens weren't real, so why did they have to go about and flaunt their weapons about with fake threats?

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Clara nodded and went to put the kettle on. She called out, from the kitchen. "Do you take sugar and milk in your tea, Detective Clayworth?" she asked. She wasn't sure why she wasn't just calling him Jonah, but there you go. She was strange like that, at times. She put the sugar and the teabag in her own tea and, once Jonah had told her what he took and she'd made the tea, she began heading out to her living room. She paused when she heard him speaking, though, and she kept quiet, wondering what in the world he was doing.
When she went round into the living room properly, she noticed he was looking at a photo the Doctor had given her a while back. She raised an eyebrow, wondering why that interested him at all.Although...to be quite honest Clara didn't remember that event at all. Being in Victorian London. It was all very odd...she knew that she'd been there but it was all...fuzzy, she supposed.
"Here's your tea, detective." she said, placing it on the table and taking a sip of her own. She gestured to the photo. "It isn't mine." she explained, shrugging. "A friend gave it to me to borrow and I just haven't gotten a chance to give it back yet. Do you like it?" she asked, trying to avoid having to explain that she traveled in time with an alien that could go anywhere he wanted in time and space. Why would Jonah believe her even if she did say that?

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
When she had asked if he wanted sugar, he didn't really respond because of how in shock he was over the photo. It looked incredibly authentic, much too authentic to be a hoax. Reading over the line where it said The Doctor over and over, he felt himself get a bit dizzy as he sat down on the couch and put the photo back on the table. Clara had then walked in, giving him his tea.
"Thank you," he said quietly. "And it's just Jonah." For a moment when she spoke about it being a friends, he looked down at it again. "A friend's, eh? But... but that's you in London of 1886, is it not?" he spoke as though he was out of breath. This was all quite honestly a bit too strange to him. "And your friend... is he called 'The Doctor'?"
Please say no, he doesn't exist, please, please, please say he doesn't exist, his mind was racing. He would never believe in such silly stories of aliens and time travel. It was all far too illogical and didn't make sense with the world that he knew all too well. Why would they suddenly come out of nowhere if they existed for years?

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Clara noted how worried and dizzy he looked. After taking another sip of her tea, she sat beside him, ever so gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, calm down." she said softly, rubbing his shoulder slightly in the hope that it would calm him down a little bit. She suddenly had the urge to hug him and tell him he was going to be fine, but she restrained herself. She kept her hand on his shoulder, though.
She hesitated when he spoke, and she opened her mouth, about to tell him a whole bunch of lies to convince him, to calm him. But for some reason, she literally couldn't. Instead, the truth came pouring out of her lips. "Yes, that's me and...yes my friend is the Doctor. But..." she was trying so hard to come up with a story, but the lies wouldn't exit her mouth. Cursing silently, Clara rubbed his shoulder again. "Listen to me, before you freak out, it's not what it seems." she managed to say.
How was she going to get out of this one? He seemed so worried...and yet she couldn't even lie to calm him down. How much of an idiot was she, exactly? She could lie just fine most of the time, what made this situation so different? Clara pushed the thoughts away and focused on Jonah, trying to make sure he didn't run out on her or anything.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Feeling the arm come around his shoulder, he felt himself relax a bit as he closed his eyes to recollect himself. She had then said that it was indeed the Doctor to which he felt a bit unclear about his beliefs now. "It's not what it seems?" he then mused her final statement as he looked at her seriously.
Leaning back on the couch and taking a sip of his tea, he finally quieted his breathing and let out a long sigh. Looking at her and then back to the photo, he frowned. "So... you time travel then. I hear legends about this man all over the station," he said quietly. "You go back in time, and all over the world, and what not..?"
Looking down at the photo again, he set his tea down on the coaster and then looked round. "So is he your boyfriend then? That Doctor?" he asked curiously. "Or does he always just pick up young women to go travel with him?" he teased. Wait, what the hell am I saying? he thought for a moment. Since when did he have a sense of humor?

When he looked at her so seriously, Clara bit her lip, feeling somewhat guilty even though she hadn't really done anything. She placed her arm more around his shoulders, shifting slightly closer to him, not sure if it would help at all but hoping that it would. She hated seeing people worried or scared or sad; it was just something that she'd always wanted to fix.
When he leaned back, calming down, Clara gently removed her arm from his shoulders and grabbed her own tea, sipping it before putting it back on a coaster. When he began to talk again, she thought about lying once more, but again, that wouldn't work. Why can't you lie?! she thought. "Yes, I do time travel. I know it sounds very impossible, but...well, you're a detective. You can tell if I'm lying or not just by looking at me, right?" she pointed out softly.
When Jonah asked if the Doctor was her boyfriend, Clara shook her head and pulled a face at the thought. "No way. Ugh, what a thought. No, he's my best friend." she laughed at his teasing and nodded. "Oh, trust me, he loves the young ones." she giggled. She then paused, looking at Jonah seriously. "Are you going to be okay? This information can be a little...shocking."

Hearing what she was saying, he looked at her and could see that there were no lies in her eyes. At that point, he wasn't exactly sure that was a relief or not, but he tried to stay calm. When she then went on about how they weren't dating, he let out a slight chuckle, shaking his head as he went to sip at his tea just a bit more.
"Alright then... so do you do this often? Go on adventures or whatever with the bloke..?" he asked curiously. Looking around, he did notice that there wasn't much around the house. Either she was boring, or wasn't home enough to care about decorating. "I'm guessing it's a regular thing."
Now there was a silence between them. Well this was definitely not what he expected when he first walked through those doors to do questioning. Looking around awkwardly, he set his tea down once more and cleared his throat. "Well then... yes, I'm fine, just a bit... I suppose confused. I never believed in things like that before, and it's strange hearing that they actually exist."

Clara saw him look at her, and she knew he could tell that she was telling the truth. She noticed he was making an effort to stay home, so that had to be a bonus, right? She smiled at him slightly, and remained silent for now; sometimes, a brief silence calmed someone down. She knew that from experience, although that was another thing she'd rather not admit to people.
She nodded. "Usually once a week. Sometimes we miss the occasional week, depending on how busy he is. But yes, it is something that I do quite a lot. I wouldn't want to give up the chance to go traveling, though. I don't think anyone would." Clara said the last bit thoughtfully. Why would anyone give up the chance to go traveling? Though, then again, perhaps because she'd seen the wonderful things out there, she was somewhat biased. That was debatable.
She picked up her tea and took a sip, before putting it back on the table and paying attention to what Jonah was saying. She nodded. "I know it can all be a little much to deal with at first, but it just takes a while to adjust. Trust me, I didn't believe in time travel or aliens before the Doctor, but ever since...he's opened my eyes to a better universe, y'know? It's all rather...magical." Clara said, smiling at him.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
Thinking about it, he looked around awkwardly. Was this man well known? It seemed like everyone who knew him always talked so highly of him. He honestly thought the idea of being able to live for centuries, traveling the unknown and having the ability to go into the past and future was quite terrifying. He wasn't sure if he'd like that.
"Magical, huh?" he mused for a moment before finishing his tea. There was another silence between them as he thought once more. So this girl must be his companion that people spoke of. Everyone who talked about him always said the same thing; he and his companions would hussle and bussle and save the day.
"So are you the only one then?" he then asked. "Or does he usually have multiple traveling partners?" He honestly was rather curious now. Not because he wanted to meet him, but just because he was interested in knowing if she was usually alone with the guy, dealing with all these interesting places. "Isn't it dangerous? I mean, if aliens do exist... not all of them are possibly good."

She chuckled ever-so-slightly as he seemed thoughtful about the way she'd described traveling. "Okay, so that's a little bit of a childish way to describe it, but it fits the feeling of traveling through space and time perfectly, for me at least." she explained with a little shrug. Couldn't get much more simple than that, right?
At Jonah's question, a very thoughtful look passed over Clara's features. "There have been others before me, I know that for definite. But at the moment, it's just me and him. Most of the time, at least. Occasionally he has other friends there, but that's fine, I get along with them all." Clara then grinned at Jonah, her eyes sparkling. "I could always ask the Doctor to take you on an adventure with us, detective. It would be fun, and...perhaps then you'd understand properly." she said, smiling to show her offer was genuine.
She finished her own cup of tea then placed it on the table. The day was proving to be very interesting so far, and it was quite nice. Granted, she hadn't expected to be sat in her living room, chatting about the Doctor with a detective, but hey, she wasn't complaining in any way, at all.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
"You'd seriously take me on one?" he raised an eyebrow, doubting that she was really about to let a man she had just met not only half an hour ago do something as amazing as that. Even then, if it were true, he was skeptical about whether or not he'd really want to even go or not.
Looking at his empty cup, he shrugged for a moment as he looked around. "Well... other than going on adventures then... what do you like to do for fun?" he asked. He wasn't really sure what he was doing exactly. He wasn't good at making small talk... or talking to girls.
Why was he even trying in the first place? He had never succeeded with ever having any friends or even getting a girl's attention for over 26 years. He was a bit too old to start looking now, wasn't he? At least that's what most people joked about with him around the station.

Re: What The Hell Happened?! // Jonah
"Course I would. The Doctor loves new people in the TARDIS!" Clara said, smiling at him genuinely and sweetly. Granted, she'd only met him a short time ago, but people constructed good friendships over adventures. She'd learned that lesson a long time ago...she snapped out of her thoughts. She couldn't start zoning out when she was in the middle of a conversation...where were her manners?
Clara looked thoughtful. "Well, I cook. And I read quite a bit. But mostly I just go and look after kids." she explained, chuckling lightly. "That is another part of my job, though." she added, in case that wasn't clear enough. She grinned. "What about you, detective? What do you do for fun?" she had the strangest idea that he was one of the guys who was engrossed in his work. They were boring men, but perhaps for the detective she could make an exception. For the moment, anyway.
It was interesting to be having this kind of conversation with a somewhat normal detective in Clara's own flat. It was slightly strange to be talking about adventures and an alien man from space, but hey, that happened to Clara a lot. It was as if trouble and awkward conversations followed her everywhere. She smiled at Jonah lightly before removing her gaze to look at the ground, making sure not to get too lost in her thoughts. That could happen sometimes.
