Seeking Answers // OPEN
Jack Harkness smiled to himself as he continued to work at the computer for a few more minutes. He was looking into the Weeping Angels activity, it was troublesome but he'd do his best to get things moving with helping The Doctor. He hoped that the Angels weren't trying to kill the worlds population by what they were doing but that didn't seem to be their goal. They seemed to be more intelligent acting than he'd ever known an Angel to be. He sighed as he got up from the monitor and walked out of Torchwood he had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. He hated so many people and yet he was trying to figure out what was controlling the Weeping Angels.
It was with a moment later that he walked out of Torchwood towards somewhere in the Park. Jack was nervous and very much uncertain as to what was going to happen this time he was looking to get answers as to the Weeping Angels situation. Though he guessed that wouldn't happen so he just moved down the road towards the last sighting of a Weeping Angel. "Why are they seemingly being controlled?" He muttered to himself as he walked down the road, he was walking because it helped to clear his head a little too well sometimes.

So the weeping angels were on the move, The Hunter realised as he flitted around the many instruments within his TARDIS. Something didn't make sense though, their behaviour pattern for one was far more erratic than usual, but at the same time had a sense of controlled and well thought out activity. That was atypical of them, seeing as their purpose was to eat away at stolen lifetimes. What were they thinking? Perhaps his friends and colleagues at Torchwood would know.
Materialising his TARDIS in a Cardiff park not too far from headquarters, The Hunter exited, noting what the TARDIS looked like and where he had parked it, he breathed in the fresh air as he then made his way toward the gates. Before he could do so however, he caught sight of a familiar figure. Not just any old figure though, he realised with a smile as he made his way over, coming up to him from behind.
"G'day boss", he greeted him rather suddenly as he patted him gently on the bum. He had always been the forward type, irrespective of gender, and he knew that Captain Jack Harkness of all people could take it in good humour.

Jack sighed as he thought about the fact that he had lost so many people to attacks and other things that had happened to Torchwood. He had lost Ianto someone he'd actually had a relationship with and so many other friends as he prepared for whatever the Angels were planning. His world was changing he could feel it something was coming, there was an ongoing change in the world. Jack had gathered a fair bit of information on the Angels but that didn't change the fact that he was nervous about it.
It was at moments like this he wished he could just summon The Doctor to help figure things out. He had liked Nine, he didn't care fo Ten much but he was cheeky and a lot more serious about him...Jack shook his head an sighed as he heard a TARDIS. He wondered which Time Lord it was because it didn't sound like The Doctor's TARDIS, it sounded like someone else's TARDIS. Jack just kept walking not feeling any need to go and see after all if they were here for him they'd show up and talk to him if they wanted him.
The words from behind startled him for a moment but the pat to his bum made him run over in his head who it could be before reacting. When he realized it was The Hunter he smiled to himself and turned to look at him. "G'day. So what brings you here at this time?" Jack grinned at him, looking him over as attractive as ever. Jack wondered how he hadn't noticed as much before but he chocked it up to other things keeping his mind busy.

"Oh y'know, same old", The Hunter responded to Jack's question as he walked along beside him. No matter how far out into the big, wide universe he got, he still found himself visiting Earth on numerous occasions. He had grown quite attached whilst trapped here in his first incarnation, and with Gallifrey gone this was probably the closest he had to a real home. No longer having the apartment in London, seeing as he didn't really need it anyway, he lived pretty much wherever his TARDIS landed. He had found Torchwood quite by accident, but it's members were possibly the closest thing to friends he had now.
Wondering just why he was thinking such glum thoughts, he shook his head as he flashed a small smile at Jack, continuing with his earlier trail of thought.
"Been picking up some strange signals around here", he elaborated as he kept on walking, "so I thought I'd come see if you guys were on to it. We make a hell of a team, after all, so its only fair!", he continued with a mischievous grin. He then paused as he pulled out his sonic pen, wondering if said signals were stronger here.
"So Jack, how much do you know about weeping angels?", he asked in a throw away manner as he scanned away. No use being too formal and business like, even if something was out there and rather likely to kill them!

"All right, good to know at least one Time Lord can be counted on." Jack said as he looked at him, he liked this man. He was attractive enough and he was also a friend so it counted for something, he was sure that this was going to be one of the better days at least if all went well it would be because honestly he needed good day. Jack wondered for a few moments as to what The Hunter thought of the fact that Torchwood's whole purpose was to protect the Earth even though he was from Gallifrey but that was a passing thought.
"Yeah things have been really weird lately." Jack said to him as he looked at teh man then he mentioned team and Jack felt a stab of pain. "Yeah true we do make a hell of a team." Jack told him then thought about Ianto, they'd made a good team too and look where he was...oh yeah dead.
"More than I'd like to. They're acting funny though...More directed more like there's thought behind their attacks." Jack smiled at The Hunter with that and sighed why was he being all business right now? He shook himself and looked at The Hunter really well, trying to keep on business was becoming harder but that was a good thing. It meant he was back to normal if business was hard to keep his mind on.

The Hunter couldn't help but smile. It was a long time since anyone had told him he could be counted on, and it sure felt good. Other than his dealings with Torchwood and Jack, he rarely worked as a team player, choosing instead to work alone. Why had he made an exception for these guys though?
As Jack continued, he couldn't help but notice the pain in his voice. After all, no matter how one looked at it the man was a soldier. Soldiers went o battle and saw things that could never be erased, lost things that most would never understand. He himself had lost his entire family, his entire race, and the pain was like a knife twisting in his heart, but somehow it just didn't seem real. He hadn't seen it happen with his own eyes. He would always regret acting rashly in the name of fun, only to lose everything. He had enjoyed his time as Ben Cross, the human computer programmer, but that didn't much at all in the grand scheme of things. He had ran while his people were being slaughtered. Although he had told himself at the time that he had every intention of returning, there was no escaping the fact that he ran away.
Brought back to the present as Jack went on to answer his question, he couldn't help but frown at his words. He'd thought that too, but what kind of power would be able to control something like The Weeping Angels? They wouldn't act like this on their own, after all.
"I wonder if someone or something is using them for their own ends, like assassination or something", he thought aloud as he walked. Jack seemed distracted, which probably wasn't a good thing, but it meant that he hadn't caught the sideways glances that he himself had been giving his 'boss'. He had to admit, Captain Jack Harkness was on heck of a fine specimen!

Re: Seeking Answers // OPEN
Jack knew that The Hunter was normally not one to be around, but then again what Time Lord was? They all seemed determined to follow their own beat..er...Jack had no idea what word to use but beat left a foul taste in his mouth. Ever since The Master had tormented him he never wanted to use any kind of thing related even remotely to drums.
There was a part of Jack that wondered how much The Hunter really knew about his people, about the fact that they were all gone. Jack felt himself inwardly shudder his own home was lost as well in a way, he'd watched it die by invaders. Somehow he'd marched on to his own tune for a while, then he'd gotten attached to this place. He would never let earth die the way his own home had, as long as he was in charge of Torchwood earth would remain safe. He knew that the Time Lord's that were all around wouldn't let anything happen either, it was only a matter of time before whatever storm was brewing boiled over and destroyed things.
"Who knows..." Jack let his eyes trail The Hunter for a moment and smiled to himself, "So do you know of any creature that could control The Weeping Angels?" He knew that he was asking only to keep his mind on the business at hand even though he wanted so badly to tell The Hunter to come with him back to his place. It took every ounce of his effort to keep from flirting.
"So what have you been doing in your spare time handsome?" Jack knew it was heavy but it had been some time since he'd had to actually pick someone up like this. He'd had Ianto for so long that picking someone else up was a bit harder than he'd ever admit. There was a part of him that wondered if he kept in the game like this from fun or because he was trying to forget his pain.

Re: Seeking Answers // OPEN
"Do I know anything that can control the weeping angels...", he repeated as he trailed off. In all honesty, he couldn't think of anything off hand with such power, or indeed leverage. Although Weeping Angels often worked together, they were hardly what he would call team players. After all, only one could snag the prize of a persons lost lifetime, but then that wasn't the only thing they were known to feed on. Certain energy sources for one could cause more than a little stir, bringing out a sense of community and causing them to work together for a common goal. If there was something like that here...
Suddenly remembering the rift, The Hunter once again began scanning with his sonic pen. Hadn't that been closed, or had he been fed false information? The readings he picked up confirmed that there was something there, but only his TARDIS could tell him more.
"I'm picking up a pretty high energy reading around here, is the rift still active?", he asked as he turned back to face Jack. He felt a little foolish for asking, but he needed to know if he was going to ascertain what was behind the weeping angels strange activity.
As Jack enquired as to what he'd been doing with himself, The Hunter couldn't help but smile as he referred to him as 'handsome'. To be honest, he found Jack rather attractive too, but now wasn't the time.
"More things to do, more places to see and more contracts to carry out", he answered simply as he felt they didn't really have time for this right now. Especially after what he had just seen from the corner of his eye.
"Jack, is it just me or has that statue moved?", he asked as he pointed to a stature nearby, which until just a moment ago he was pretty sure had been a little further back.

Jack watched him the situation had him so worried and on alert he was concerned that something was happening and he wanted to be sure the angels weren't killing people. Though the fact they were acting odd had him researching all the methods he could find on things that could control Weeping Angels. Though Jack knew that from the fact angels took potential life energy he'd be a pretty potent source because Time Lords were so right now the angels had two pretty damn good meals sitting right here. That made him wonder what was going to happen next. Jack shook his head as he cleared it slightly trying to keep on task and not do anything stupid.
"I'm not sure it could be I mean I hear it was closed but not sure." Jack said to him as he looked around trying to figure out what was going on around here. After a moment that made Jack truly alarmed if the Rift was still open then they'd all be in some very deep trouble, he was sure that life was going to get very interesting. He hated when life took an interesting turn because that meant he'd die a few times in quick succession.
Jack nodded as he kept on topic and on business, "Right." He answered simply as he looked at him with a grin. He missed having Ianto at least then he'd had a steady person to return home to without him these dangerous missions just made him want to risk himself more.
He stared at the statue he'd brought up and it had indeed moved so he stared at the thing then glanced at The Hunter. "Yeah it did. Which means that we're going to have to be careful, both of us would be feast for any Weeping Angel." Jack told The Hunter trying to stay positive.

Re: Seeking Answers // OPEN
"Hmmm, so if the rift was indeed closed then why am I picking up such a huge energy spike?", he asked with a furrowed brow a he took another look at his sonic pen. If he wished to further extrapolate this information, then he would need either the TARDIS or the technology available at Torchwood HQ. The TARDIS was closer, so that would be the most direct choice, but then it was probably more important to make others at Torchwood aware of what was going on here. If he could find out, which he was pretty than confident he could.
Either way, the confirmation that the statue had indeed moved concerned him to no end. Perhaps the TARDIS would be the best place for them right now, in fact it rather gave him an idea.
"Yup, I think we'd make more than a quick snack", he replied to Jack's witty comment with a smile. He loved it when he did that. He was also quite aware of Jack's unique 'feature', something that he had to admit rather intrigued him. It was entirely possible that he would outlive even him, meaning that he would indeed make a good feast for a Weeping Angel. Perhaps too good, but it was a risk he was unwilling to take himself, never mind for his friend and part time boss!
"Keep your eyes on it", The Hunter instructed as he edged closer, scanning the quantum locked life form before him. Definitely a Weeping Angel, but something was amiss. Frowning, he backed off to return to Jack's side.
"The TARDIS is going to be our best bet here. Not only can we extrapolate this data in there, but its closer. Also, The Angel can't follow us in there if we close the door in time, but it will likely follow us there. That means we can run further scans and find out what we're dealing with." He hated not knowing, but worse he hated to turn from hunter to prey. He knew that they couldn't turn away from the thing, lest that very outcome turn into reality, but the last time he had jogged backwards was at that party on Barcelona. Back then, he'd fallen over a noseless dog and almost busted his ankle, something he did not wish to repeat!

Jack knew that the energy from a rift would be pretty high if it wasn't closed so for the moment he remained nervous and uncertain. Though he didn't show it he couldn't and wouldn't show it not here and now because of the fact he needed to stay on task and help The Hunter. His eyes remained locked on the statue not blinking was hard but his life and the life of a friend were on the line. He kept his gaze locked and listening to The Hunter, he knew that the Angel would love to have them.
"Yes well I'd rather not feed an angel. Especially since I'd make it so it never have to again if what The Doctor said is to be believed." Jack said to him with a tight smile as he looked at him wondering what the hell he was doing here now. He shook himself mentally and kept his eyes on the quantum locked creature. Part of him wanted to back up slowly and get away from it but he chose not to.
"All right start walking, I'll follow I can walk backwards pretty well and you need to get there first anyway it's your TARDIS and most TARDISes don't like me." Jack said to him with a tight grin as he kept his eyes on the creature and knew that this was going to make for one hell of a story to tell whatever kids he happened to have. "Though whatever is controlling them is a very large threat." Jack told him softly as he remembered the number of life and death situations he and Ianto had been in.

The sooner he could get back to the TARDIS the better, but doing so without being zapped back a century of two would be the tricky part. He couldn't help but smile at Jack's next comment though.
"Yup, the thing would be pretty gorged", he responded. He knew what Jack was, so it was possible that he may just be able to kill off one of these nightmarish creatures! Not that he would sacrifice a friend in such manner, but the thought was still there!
A thought then occurred to him as he once again glanced down at his Sonic Pen. What if he could bring the TARDIS to them? Would it realise in that short amount of time just whom it was inviting in? Perhaps, they were tricky things after all, but it was worth a try!
"Right, I'm gonna try and bring the TARDIS to us". Might be easier than trying to find it while walking backwards, that is if it was willing to play along!
Holding the sonic device into the air, he held down the button in an attempt to call upon his dear travelling companion. It seemed to be working as it began to materialise around them, but a loud groan suggested that she was none too happy, disappearing and instead appearing behind them Oh well, he supposed it would have to do.
The currently tree shaped machine stood behind them, leaving the pair between safety and certain doom. The attempted materialisation had given the angel the chance to step in closer, close enough to bare its fangs and it stood just yards away from the pair! In its hand there was some kind of amulet, containing an emblem which frustratingly enough The Hunter didn't recognise. He would worry about that later though, for now he had to figure out how to get Jack in the TARDIS without it locking itself up. That would be bad, and he silently prayed as he back up to the door embedded in the solid bark that she would understand just how much trouble they would be in if she didn't play along.

Jack was now nervous and very sure he was going to die by Weeping Angel that'd be a new way to die considering the 1400 or there abouts ways he'd already died. He shook himself and knew that this was going to be a very interesting turn of events but he kept his eyes locked on the Weeping Angel.
Jack grinned as the thought passed through his mind to let the angel touch him, at least then it might just explode from all the energy it would get from him. Though he wouldn't do that unless a mortal friend were in danger, The Hunter was no mortal friend. He was a Time Lord and a very attractive one at that.
"Good luck." Jack muttered as he felt his eyes starting to dry out from not blinking and the fact that his heart was starting to pound from nerves he was scared of what was to come. If he got touched he'd be leaving people behind especially the people he'd made friends with that were mortal and would die long before him. That began to make a melancholy mood descend on him as he remembered that fact.
As the TARDIS appeared Jack didn't hold his breath for the TARDIS to actually accept his presence. When she made that noise he shook his head and looked at The Hunter preparing to tell him to just leave him out there. He would survive he always did, when she appeared beind them. "Just go inside the TARDIS I'll be safe and make it somehow." Jack told him softly as he kept his eyes on the creature as best he could.
Jack moved with him slowly but didn't let himself hope the TARDIS would let him in, "We'll try this but know I'll be fine." He said softly as he stared at the creature ignoring the emblem it meant nothing to him. He wanted to get out of here alive and not as Angel fodder.
